Steve Le Grys a photographer, born in Kenya and based in Suffolk. I started my working life as an apprentice camera operator for a London book printers 40 years ago. The majority of my career has been spent in the print and graphic industries. Recently awarded Bachelor of Arts in Photography from the University of East London and Associate membership of The Royal Photographic Society (ARPS).

It was during my time as an undergraduate, that a chance visit to the Julia Margaret Cameron exhibition at the Science Museum created a profound influence on my studies and photographic perception. Subsequently my goal has been to become competent in the Wet Collodion process made famous by Julia Margaret Cameron and Roger Fenton. My belief that the current need for speed and a desire for ever greater resolution is having an adverse effect on the artistic abilities of the photographer. Subject and style have been sacrificed in favour of process. Wet Collodion Photography although very slow and at times difficult, has now become my desired artistic format.
